Focusing on information context for ITS using a spatial age of information model

New technologies for sensing and communication act as enablers cooperative driving applications. Sensors are able to detect objects in the surrounding environment information such their current location is exchanged among vehicles. In order cope with vehicles’ mobility, required be fresh possible proper operation of The age (AoI) has been proposed a metric evaluating freshness information; recently also within context intelligent transportation systems (ITS). We investigate mechanisms reduce AoI data transported form beacon messages while controlling emission rate. aim balance packet collision probability frequency using average peak (PAoI) metric. This metric, however, only accounts generation time but not application-specific aspects, transmitting vehicle. thus propose new way interpreting by considering context, thereby incorporating locations. As an example, we characterize importance orientation distance involved particular, introduce weighting coefficient used combination PAoI evaluate freshness, emphasizing on from more important neighbors. further design beaconing approach meet given requirement, thus, saving resources wireless channel keeping minimal. illustrate effectiveness our Manhattan-like urban scenarios, reaching pre-specified targets messages.
